Meow! Meow! Meow! Meow!
Are you experiencing that? Are your cat meowing all night long? And you just need to get a sleep because you have work the next day or you worried it might disturb your neighbors and you might received a complaint. Especially when you are leaving in an apartment setting In this video we will be finding out what causes excessive meowing throughout the night. And how do we stop that particular cat habit. Cat issue can always be broken down into 2 major categories Medical and Behavioral. Make sure you get your cat checked by a certified veterinarian, before assuming that it is a behavioral related issues. |
As for this video we will only be looking into the Behavioral issue. There are a few things that could cause excessive meowing through out the night.
Such as loneliness. When we confine the cat into a particular area during the night or lack of quality playtime. Let me rephrase that, when the cat have insufficient QUALITY playtime
Some cats are overly attached or just love their human buddies. And by us isolating them through out the night might induce a sense of loneliness and stress. For this case is rather simple, by letting them be in the same space as us through out the night, might actual solve the issue. Or maybe you do not want your cat to be in the same space as you during the night because you are having other behavioral related issues. Such as the cat is peeing and pooing at your bed. For this is a completely different matter all together.

Quality playtime here actually refer to the play sequence. When the cat will be going through the motion of stalking, sprinting or jumping and pounding, going for the kill. Leaving the cat fully satisfy, at the end of every play session

It is hard, but you have to be consistent with your action. So you do not give any mixed signal to your cats and confuse them in the process
So every time when you heard that meow at night, take a deep breath and just ignore it. Knowing everything will be okay. Because you know for a fact that:
1) Your cat is medically fit. As discussed at the beginning. You have to get your cat checked by a certified vet before thinking that it is a behavioral related issue.
2) Your cat is now in the same space as you and they are no longer confine in a lonely room
3) They have already received a quality playtime just before their meal time which is before their bed time
So all that is left is to break your cat attention seeking behavior, just by ignoring it. Overtime your cat will understand that by them meowing through out the night will not get them any attention. And eventually they will stop that particular habit of theirs
